Rain, rain go away…

I awoke at 7.30 with every intention of doing 10 miles plus until I looked out of the window and saw that it was hosing it down – time to put my plans onto the back burner.

Time passed and the rain didn’t stop; more time passed and it continued to rain and after more time had passed with the rain still falling I decided to bite the bullett, man up, grow some and other such inspirational sayings and go for a slightly shorter run in the rain.

Six very wet miles round Boston duly followed and I returned home wetter than I would have been had I taken a bath fully clothed. I am normally a big fan of Hilly gear but I own a supposedly waterproof jacket that is less waterproof than a roll of kitchen towel, completely useless as a rainproof jacket so I can see I’m going to have to invest in something better if I’m going to complete Juneathon without watercress growing on my back!

Onwards and upwards, tomorrow is supposed to be better. Total so far = 32k.

About JovialGnome

Heavily into running 20 years ago with a PB of 1.42.00 in the Shrewsbury Half Marathon in 1985 and 3.48.49 in the Telford Marathon in 1986 - then for some reason I just stopped and have done little or no physical exercise between then and 2 or 3 years ago! I've now moved to Boston in Lincolnshire where I really enjoy looking after my 13 Ryeland ewes and 1 ram and am rejoicing in the distinct lack of hills! I suspect that sub 4 hour marathons are gone forever but hey, I'm having a great time trying!
