‘Cause I’m fairly sure I’ve lost it somewhere!
Even though it’s a day off I still got up at 5.30 so that I could make the 2½ hour drive to Fritton Lake parkrun in Norfolk. When I turmed up at the start I looked round at all the slim, fit and decidely young looking runners and thought “where are all the slightly overweight old men?” but then it came to me ” hang on, that’s you!” A short run briefing and we were off with me starting near the back and staying there! Quite what’s wrong with me at the moment I’ve no idea but I ran (and indeed walked!) like a drain and recorded my personal worst in 47 parkruns – there was just nothing there when I asked my body the question indeed, I thought “sod off Noddy” was a very impertinent answer!
Shame because it really is a beautiful course and whilst it’s undulating, it certainly isn’t hilly and is run mainly on woodland trails with a bit of grass and a bit of made up path thrown in for good measure and I’m sure if I’d run a little quicker I would really have loved it but I will return when my running mojo puts in a re-appearance! It would appear that no one stopped for a coffee so I thanked the organizers and made my way home, an over-turned lorry on the A47 meaning that a diversion through Norwich added over an hour to my homeward journey.
Total for Juneathon so far = 85k with a longish run planned for tomorrow now, where did I put that mojo?
