An early run and pictures of naked sheeps!

With just 3 days to go of this bloody wonderful Juneathon challenge it was another early start for me and a little over five miles run which leaves me with about 21 miles to do in two days if I’m to break my hoped for 200 mile barrier! I know I won’t get a lot more than five miles in tomorrow so it’s going to have to be a parkrun and then some on Saturday but I’m that close now that I will do it!

As per last nights blog, Charles the shearer turned up and gave the boy and girls a hair cut and I can well imagine that, given the temperature today, they are well pleased to have lost their winter woollies! I will never get over how different they look with their coats off, there’s a photo below so you can judge for yourselves. There’s also a photo of the very gorgeous Tonks who’s always been my favourite for 7stoneitch. Now she’s been sheared you can’t actually see the large patch of brown wool on her leg that gave her her name (if that makes no sense whatsoever to you go and ask the nearest Harry Potter fan!).

The only slightly down side to the evening was the fact that Charles (who’s forgotten more about sheep than I’ll ever know!) reckons that the two who haven’t lambed yet aren’t actually in lamb which would probably explain why! Can’t blame Elvis, he is still a young boy and 3 out of 5 ain’t bad – I’m sure he’ll do better next year!

First day out on my own as a fully fledged meter reader tomorrow, if you live in Wisbech I apologize in advance!

Total for Juneathon so far = 288k.

About JovialGnome

Heavily into running 20 years ago with a PB of 1.42.00 in the Shrewsbury Half Marathon in 1985 and 3.48.49 in the Telford Marathon in 1986 - then for some reason I just stopped and have done little or no physical exercise between then and 2 or 3 years ago! I've now moved to Boston in Lincolnshire where I really enjoy looking after my 13 Ryeland ewes and 1 ram and am rejoicing in the distinct lack of hills! I suspect that sub 4 hour marathons are gone forever but hey, I'm having a great time trying!

Yay Tonks! When we went for a drive in the countryside yesterday I noticed all the sheep had been sheared. Apart from one who was sporting a half sheared half not look! Most amusing
